Welcome to Topline

Hey Guys, it’s me, Max. I’m an aspiring writer interested in film, currently completing a degree in Creative Writing at Purdue University, minoring in Film and Video Studies, Anthropology, and Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies. It’s long been a passion of mine to discuss and write about film in my free time, and it is long overdue that I attempt to share that with a wider audience in a (slightly) more formal setting.

This new project, tentatively titled Topline, will be a place to do that. Subscribers to Topline can expect semi-regular film reviews, generally focused on recently reviews. I try to keep up with all corners of the industry as best I can and reviews will cover everything from independent international films to the newest Disney blockbuster, so you should find something to read no matter your interests.

I don’t have a strict schedule yet and may not develop one for some time, as ultimately things like school work and my job take precedent. Similarly, I don’t want to limit myself to strictly writing reviews, and am leaving the possibility open for other topics and formats to appear here. While this is largely undecided as of now, this could take the shape of television reviews, commentary on film and television news, and anything else I get the urge to write.

For now Topline will start simple and I will be uploading some 2021 reviews I already have in the can, and readers can expect a review of Michael Sarnoski’s Pig in the coming days.
